Editorial Guidelines

Throughout the year, Pittsburgh Family Magazine features fresh, in-depth, and relevant parenting information for our readers. Our goal is to be Pittsburgh’s premier parenting resource and to serve as a valuable guide for parents, grandparents, educators, and child-care providers.

Our guest parenting experts cover timely articles to help our readers deal with every stage of their child’s growth.

If your business crosses into any part of parenting, you should make it your business to be a regular part of Pittsburgh Family Magazine.

Please send articles to Daniel Casciato at writer@danielcasciato.com.

Bylined Article Checklist

We accept these types of articles:

  • Exclusive articles are those you submit to our Editorial team for publication only on PFM.
  • Non-exclusive articles are those you submit to our Editorial team for publication on PFM that you’ve also posted or may post to other blogs or websites. Please let us know where the article was published before and if we have permission to re-post.

Articles should be written in the third person unless the submission is an opinion piece approved by the editor.

Include a title (in title case) with your article submission, the author’s byline, a short bio (100 words or less), and a headshot. Headshots should be 75 dpi in resolution and 300 x 300 pixels, be in color, and in .jpg or .png format.

Footnotes/Citations

Do not include footnotes or endnotes. We will not post these. References must be hyperlinked in the document, not footnoted.

Links

You may include links to relevant resources and a link to your company in the bio at the end of the piece. Please note: We reserve the right to change or remove any links in the article at anytime. Links in the bio section will never be changed.

Please note: All links are converted to no-follow.

Calendar of Events
Have a special event coming up? Any seminars or clinics the readers should be aware of? Send us the name of the event; location; dates; and contact information.

Press Releases
We encourage you to send your press releases on breaking news, awards, new hires, promotions, and other things that your organization is proud and excited to announce. We welcome and encourage photos (300 dpi) with submissions. All press releases should offer a clear, thorough description of your product or service. If your product or service is not family specific, it is helpful to tell us how it is applicable to the healthcare community.

Photos
We encourage photos with article and/or press release submissions. Photos should be at least 5″ wide and 200 dpi. Headshots should be at least 2″ wide and 300 dpi. Also, be sure to include the cutline. Finally, please send any images as separate files and not embedded in your article document or in an email.

Deadlines
The beauty of a digital publication is that we publish news 24/7.  However, because of the volume of press releases and articles we receive on a weekly basis, we try to post your news within 48 hours of receiving it. Email your content to Daniel Casciato at writer@danielcasciato.com.

Social Media Channels
If you have news that must be distributed immediately, we’ll post it on our social media accounts-LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Combined, we have 10,000+ key connections.
